It Was Always There

For decades I thought I knew which one I was. The analytical one. Finance, strategic planning, numbers, spreadsheets. I used to be good at that, and I rather enjoyed it, to be honest. Friends of mine would tell me that I was, in fact, more creative than I made myself out to be. I didn't believe them.
Something clicked when I started Atelier Bloem, however. When choosing the perfect composition, colours, lighting, it suddenly felt so natural. I had never really expressed my creativity like that before. It was always there, dormant, waiting to be awakened, perhaps?
My daughter, on the contrary, is a born creative. She is ten, outrageously talented, and she has never needed any sort of awakening. She dives into her creativity every single day. For years my husband and I would look at each other and wonder where she gets it from. Well, I think I know now.
Here's the thing. Creativity is not something inherent in you or not. It is a skill, one that needs to be awoken in you. My daughter was born with it. I needed Atelier Bloem. Some people find their creativity quicker than others. I found mine after decades, and now it's in full bloom.
Creativity does not arrive. It activates.
